I had a busy morning today, starting with my first appearance at KC Coffee Morning — hopefully not my last. It was fun to meet the people behind the blogs and listen to creatives crack jokes.
Once I was sufficiently caffeinated with a JP’s dark roast, I buzzed over to the Kansas City Art Institute where Dean and I gave a little presentation to Tyler’s Senior Graphic Design class. I hope everyone enjoyed the presentation — the students were really engaged and asked some great questions.
As promised, I’ll post a few of my favorite links and I’ll work on a follow-up post with advice for the soon-to-be job seekers…
These are a few of the sites I follow: the martini shaker* by KC designer extraordinaire Jeremy Fuksa, American Copywriter — a great blog and podcast, Be A Design Group — another great blog and podcast that has a lot of good tips for students, Yewknee — Nasville-area designers, Jeff Croft — a designer at the internationally-known Lawrence Journal World, Adaptive Path — masters of user experience, information architecture, etc., A List Apart — great source for learning more about all things web, 37 signals— designers-turned-entrepreneurs who host one of the best industry-related job boards outside of Cameron Moll’s Authentic Jobs.
Thanks so much for stopping in! It was awesome to meet new peeps. See if you can’t convince Dean to stop by next time, too.
Ditto for me… It was great to put a face to the name after all these months!
Great to meet you guys, too. Dean and I aren’t quite as close as you guys, but we hope to make it a regular thing — we’ll try to sucker more people into getting up early too.
