I just finished an uneventful upgrade to WordPress 2.6. I was a little nervous as I’d heard some bad things about this version, but the whole process was as smooth as silk for me. It’s a nice update, so I’ll probably upgrade a few of the other sites I manage over the weekend.
In semi-related news, I’m putting the finishing touches on a new site design, which gives me an excuse to test 2.6’s media mananger…. stay tuned.
The only problem I had with v2.6 was the Permalinks. It turns out that is a common issue though and for the time being, it was simple fix and then 2.61 is supposed to take care of it. I haven’t played with the Media Manager yet though, I’m too busy blogging from my iPhone…
I had a lot of trouble with the Media Library (which seems to be a fairly common problem).
Luckily, it was an easy fix. For no particular reason, I was using a custom directory to store my uploads. Reverting to the default directory fixed the problem. (Look under: Settings > Miscellaneous, then “Store uploads in this folder”. The default is “wp-content/uploads”)
